The challenge
Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Halifax had a property improvement plan to meet and no appetite for closing to do it. Rooms out of service are rooms not sold, so the number of floors down at once was a revenue decision before it was a construction one.
Brand standards also leave little room for interpretation. The specification is the specification, and an inspection at the end is not the moment to discover a substitution.
What we did
WeReno ran the plan floor by floor, with a fixed number of rooms out of service at any time and a sequence that kept noisy work away from occupied floors.
Materials were confirmed against the brand standard before they were ordered, and the long-lead items were on site before the floor they belonged to came down.
The outcome
Holiday Inn Express & Suites met the standard without an unplanned closure, and the owner had a record of every substitution, approval and cost as the work ran rather than after it.
