How a large-format entertainment destination used WeReno to manage a 14-trade build-out inside an operating mall.

XSCAPE at Mall of America is a large-format entertainment complex — bowling, arcade, VR experiences, restaurants, and event spaces — all built simultaneously inside an operating anchor tenant space in one of North America's highest-traffic retail environments. The build required maintaining safe public separation from an active construction site across two floors.

Active mall operations were in direct conflict with the construction sequence.

The construction zone boundary was shifting daily as different trades moved through their sequences, but the mall's operations team needed a fixed, predictable picture of where construction activity would be each day. Communication was happening through daily email updates that weren't spatially tied to anything the mall could act on.

WeReno structured the twin with daily active-zone updates that the mall operations team could access directly. Each zone was tagged by activity type, safety perimeter, and expected duration. Mall operations used the twin for wayfinding decisions around the construction — no more daily email; just a live map they could check when they needed it.

No public safety incidents occurred during the construction period — the live zone visibility enabled mall operations to make real-time decisions without relying on the GC for updates.
