Olympics Canada Eaton Pop-up: A 72-hour build-out, documented from first panel to last fixture.

Overview

How a high-profile temporary activation was planned, executed, and decommissioned with a complete spatial record.

The Olympics Canada pop-up at the Eaton Centre was a limited-run activation tied to a specific promotional window — built in 72 hours, live for 3 weeks, decommissioned in 48 hours. It required brand compliance sign-off before opening, real-time status for remote stakeholders, and a decommission record for the Eaton Centre property team.

The problem

A 72-hour build window with remote brand oversight and zero room for error.

The Olympics Canada brand team was reviewing from their offices and needed hourly confirmation that the build was on track. The Eaton Centre property team required documented confirmation that every base-building element would be restored to its original condition after decommission — something that couldn't be guaranteed without a pre-build record.

"An Olympic pop-up has to deliver the spirit of the Games in a temporary format. The brand expectation is enormous and the window to build it is very short."

The Solution

Pre-build baseline plus hourly progress updates shared with all stakeholders.

WeReno documented the Eaton Centre base space as a baseline before any construction began. The build was tracked hourly against the twin — the brand team had live progress visibility, and the property manager had a spatial record of the pre-build condition to compare against decommission. Brand compliance comments were logged in the model and resolved before opening.

The result

Built in 68 hours. Brand sign-off before public opening. Clean decommission with no landlord disputes.

The pop-up was fully built and brand-approved in 68 hours. During the 3-week activation, the twin was used for daily operations checks. Decommission was completed in 46 hours with a complete spatial handover record delivered to the Eaton Centre property team. Zero landlord disputes on the restoration.
