Holiday Inn Express Halifax: An Atlantic Canada PIP delivered with IHG brand sign-off in a single visit.

Overview

How a Halifax hotel accelerated its IHG brand compliance process through remote twin-based inspection.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Halifax required a full IHG brand-standard refresh covering guestroom package, breakfast area, fitness center, and lobby — with IHG brand compliance typically requiring two physical site visits: a mid-project walk and a final sign-off. The project team was looking to compress the compliance timeline given the property's Atlantic Canada location and the travel costs involved in multiple visits.

The problem

Two scheduled IHG brand site visits with travel costs and calendar dependencies.

The two-visit IHG brand compliance process required scheduling the brand representative's travel from Toronto to Halifax twice — each visit adding 2-3 days of timeline uncertainty and a travel cost that fell to the property. The mid-project visit was particularly difficult to schedule against the GC's rolling completion sequence.

"A full IHG refresh in Halifax means capturing local character while meeting brand standards that were not designed with Atlantic Canada specifically in mind. Both matter."

The Solution

Mid-project compliance conducted entirely through the twin — one physical visit only.

WeReno documented the mid-project status across all zones through the twin, enabling the IHG brand representative to conduct their mid-project review remotely. Comments were logged spatially in the model and resolved by the GC before the final site visit. The physical brand representative visit was used only for final sign-off — one trip instead of two.

"WeReno captured Halifax character while modernizing our facilities to IHG standards. The balance between local identity and brand compliance was exactly right."

The result

Brand compliance in one physical visit. Travel cost eliminated. Sign-off ahead of schedule.

The Holiday Inn Express Halifax achieved full IHG brand compliance sign-off with a single physical brand representative visit — eliminating one trip and the associated timeline delay. Brand sign-off was achieved 5 days ahead of the planned compliance milestone, enabling the property to launch its re-opening marketing campaign earlier than projected.
